It will be interesting to see if we have succeeded... Over the last few months, we have been working on a bra size calculator. Why are properly fitted bra sizes so important?

If you've ever worn a bra in the wrong bust size, you certainly know what this can result in. Let's start with the visual aspects. Poorly fitting bra sizes result in a bra that does not sit well on the bust. The cups may stand out or not cover the required breast area well. The straps dig in, the waistband under the bust may not provide the right support, making the bust look unattractive even in the best outfit. The bra is intended to shape the bust, and in this case the effect is completely the opposite of what is intended. Do you feel disappointed? You have every right to feel disappointed. 

A second important, if not more important, reason for the need to properly adjust the bra size to the size of the breasts is health. The weight of the breasts rests on the spine, which is already under a lot of strain during the day, often causing pain. If the bra does not support the breasts adequately, they succumb to gravity and sink downwards. Unfortunately, this also lowers the shoulders, which causes a hunched posture. This results in back, neck and head pain and even permanent deformities and postural defects. And that's not what you expect from a bra, is it? 

What makes up bust sizes?

An essential skill for every woman should be the interpretation of bra size markings. Bust sizes are made up of several values. To know your bust size, you need to take two basic measurements. For this you will need a tailor's centimetre, a piece of paper and a pen: 

• To adjust the cup size you need to measure the circumference at the widest point of the bust. This is best done in a soft bra
• In order for a bra to support the breasts well, it must have the right girth. The measurement is taken just below the bust. It is important that the bra is the optimum size at the centre clasp, as it may stretch slightly

And that's it! To know your bust size, however, you need to be very precise. You also can't squeeze too much with a centimetre, as well as leaving it too loose.

Breast sizes in different lingerie companies 

Did it happen to you that a bra in the same size from one company was bigger than a bra from another manufacturer? Yes, this is normal. We already explain why. Each company has its own size chart, a size chart which unfortunately they do not always make available on their website. Even a 2 cm difference in the bust and underneath can make a bra not fit well. We base our sizes on corsetry measurements in cm, hence sometimes our sizes differ from those of underwear from chain stores..
