For the love of open back bodysuits

The open-back body is the first Bouduar product to be created. How did it start?

The history of Bouduar dates back to 2011. It was then that the Bouduar brand concept was born, and it all happened by complete accident. Martyna, the owner of the Bouduar brand, went to a friend's wedding. There she met Luke, who (as it turned out later) turned out to be an orchestra man. One of his remarkable skills was designing and sewing lingerie. His story is fascinating in that he acquired his corsetry knowledge by going to the vagaries of the last corsemaker who had an atelier in Gdynia. This gave him the opportunity to acquire unique knowledge that is difficult to find in Poland today (to this day, there is no school training corsetiers in our country). 

The combination of these two people was bound to produce something extraordinary sooner or later. Martyna, as a UX and UI specialist, took care of the branding, while Lukasz took care of the top quality of the products. At the same time, the tasks of the two were intertwined - Martyna became an occasional helper in the studio, while Łukasz took an active part in the creative work on the brand. 

First open-back bodysuit

Initially, the brand was based on bespoke lingerie sewing. Customers could design their dream lingerie or swimwear together with us during a consultation, choose the fabric and accessories. This form of corsetry workshop lasted until 2017. Then it was time for a change and we decided we needed a breather. We didn't really see the possibility of scaling the business in its current form, and we knew that this was the only route that could give us the opportunity to grow.

After a year's rest from the Bouduar brand, Martyna decided it was a shame to abandon the idea. Lukasz, on the other hand, gave up sewing lingerie for a while and decided to start studying nursing. However, he didn't completely abandon Bouduar, as he continues to support Martina with his knowledge and advice to this day. After the break-up, it was time to work on the new face of Bouduar. It took a year (!) for Martina to design lingerie (under Lukasz's guidance) for the brand's refreshed concept with back-revealing lingerie. And so, at the beginning of 2019, the current Bouduar. It was not a good time to open a business, but is there ever a good time? Since opening the brand 3 years ago we have been through a pandemic, a war in Ukraine and economic turmoil in the economy. Pommo we continue to grow and want to encourage more and more people to explore the back.

The new Bouduar is thanks not only to a new approach, but also to the irreplaceable team on board. Each person on our team brings a wealth of knowledge, commitment and becomes a driving force for change.

Martyna, owner of the Bouduar brand, dreamed of setting up a open-back dressesAnd for her younger sister's wedding. Those were the times when the idea seemed completely absurd! 😉 Fortunately, Martyna and Luke had enough self-denial in them to combine their new vision with their corsetry knowledge and thus find a way to dress the dress of their dreams. The product that emerged then as a prototype was not perfect. It was beautifully made from a combination of satin and black lace, but it lacked elasticity, which, as it later turned out, was the key to a bodice as light as a second skin.

Who makes up the Bouduar brand?

Currently, Bouduar to six people actively involved in working on the various elements of the brand. 

• Martyna responsible for design and construction,
• Eve and Asia in charge of sewing,
• Ola overseeing marketing,
• Two photographers: Agata and Kinga taking care of the beautiful presentation of the products. 

These six pairs of hands on board undoubtedly does a huge amount of daily work to deliver the highest quality products. Can you try on open back bodysuits in our studio?

Stationary you can visit Bouduar in the Tricity. However, our studio is where we deal with your orders on a daily basis, so please always contact us before you arrive. Once you get to us, you can always meet Ewa and Martyna there and see the designs live, take measurements and talk to us about all sorts of topics. We are always happy to welcome you to our premises! Incidentally, we will soon be inviting you to our new location, where we plan to keep the shop open at all times, without any prior contact.
