I spoke to Lukasz Budzisz about what it really looks like - without filters, perfect photos and Instagram stories - ie. Mr Gorseciarz. Luke knows the female body like few others, as he has been sewing bespoke lingerie for years and working with women who have undergone breast surgery. Well, and what's more, he is training in nursing himself, so he sees it from all sides - the aesthetic side, but also the medical side.
Why do women get breast surgery?

There are as many reasons as there are women. Some have always felt that their breasts don't fit with the rest of their body - too small, too large, asymmetrical. Others have struggled with back pain because their breasts are so heavy that daily functioning is an ordeal. Still others are survivors of an illness, a mastectomy, and want to reclaim what life has taken from them.
"Not all breast surgery is augmentation. There are also women who want to reduce their breasts because what is a dream for some is simply a health problem for others. There are also cases of reconstruction after cancer. Each case is a different story.", said Luke.
And this is important - breast surgery is not always a whim. For many women, it's a way of living without pain or a chance to come to terms with their bodies.
It is also worth adding that breast asymmetry is completely normal. Few people know, but the left breast is usually larger than the right because it is closer to the heart. In some women it's a barely noticeable difference, but there are cases where one breast is several sizes larger. And this is already something that is difficult to ignore.
What is the process before the operation?
It is not possible to simply walk into a surgery and say, 'I want a bigger bust, size D please'. The process is longer and involves several important steps.
1. choice of doctor and consultation
This is the most important thing. We don't choose a surgeon based on a pretty Instagram or the fact that a friend had surgery with him or her. Every body is different and the specialist should approach it individually.
"It's not worth suggesting what's fashionable. The most important thing is that the breasts fit the figure, not a picture from the internet." - emphasised Luke.
2. pre-operative examinations
The doctor orders a morphology, breast ultrasound, ECG and several other tests to make sure there are no contraindications. This is fundamental - it cannot be missed.
3. an informed decision
This is not an operation you do for someone. Not for a guy, not for trends, not for feeling better just for a little while. If you decide to have breast surgery, you need to be sure you are doing it for yourself.
What is the recovery like?
Here you have to be prepared to make some sacrifices. It's not like you leave the clinic with perfect breasts and can already run to the beach in a bikini. The body needs time.
What is important after the operation?
- Wearing a special bra - this is essential. It stabilises the breasts and helps to position them correctly.
- Restriction of exertion - for the first few weeks, lifting, workouts, sleeping on the stomach are off.
- Patience - the breasts take several months to 'settle'. The final result is not visible immediately
"Some women panic after surgery that their breasts are uneven, that they look strange. And that's normal! It's a process. The swelling goes down, the implants settle, the body adjusts. You have to wait.", explained Luke.
Breast surgery and psychology - what is worth knowing?

Most women say they feel better after surgery - more confident, more feminine, more comfortable in their own bodies. But this is not always the case straight away.
"This is a huge change. Some women feel alien in their own body and need time to get used to it. It's worth thinking about talking to a psychologist to sort it out." - Luke said.
And then there is the issue of clothes. After surgery, you often have to replace your entire wardrobe - other bras, others cuts of blouses, sometimes a completely different style. It can be fun, but it can also be stressful.
Is breast surgery a big risk?
Like any surgery - it carries some risks. But if you go to a good surgeon and follow the recommendations, the chances of complications are really minimal.
"The choice of clinic and doctor is fundamental. If a woman takes care of her hygiene and follows the recommendations, there is little risk of complications. But you have to be aware that it is an interference with the body and cannot be underestimated." - he emphasised Luke.
Breast surgery - Summary
Breast surgery is not a decision on the basis of: "How about this?". It's a big change that affects your appearance, your mood and sometimes your whole life.
If you think about it - make sure you do it for yourself. Not for fashion, not for others. Find a good doctor, prepare for the process, give yourself time to get used to the change.
Because the most important thing is to feel good in your body - whatever your bust.
